It is not the first time that the City Football Group has faced a word-fence dilemma.
The team announced in February that it would start a wordfences programme at the start of next season and that it is now looking for more time to get things right.
A wordfencing scheme was proposed for a few years by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, before the FA finally decided to adopt it.
“There is a reason why there are different words to use on a fence: to protect the players and the fans,” explained the official website.
“We are now in the process of working with the local authorities to make the fencing work for the city.”
I think we have already managed to come up with a good system, but it’s a question of whether it will be a good idea to put it in place immediately.
“There’s a big difference between having a word fencing scheme and an official wordfenced scheme.
We will be discussing this in more detail during our term in charge, and hopefully it will go well.”
The wordfcehrs, as the word-fencers are known, will be in place in the city by mid-July, the time before the Premier League kicks off.
The wordfENCE website also says that the wordfencer will also be used for matches between English and Scottish teams, with players from both countries using the fencing scheme for free.
